How much does it cost?

The cost is $360 for up to 6 participants and $50 for each additional participant. Additional charges may apply for additional assistants or special demonstrations. (See What does the event include? for more information.)

Is there a weight limit?

We have school horses who can comfortably carry riders up to about 185 lbs. If you have folks in your group who might be pushing this limit, let us know and we'll work with you to create an event that accommodates both riders and non-riders. (This is also a great option if you have folks who aren't keen on actually having to get on a horse or have other physical limitations that would keep them out of the saddle.)

We know that this is a sensitive subject, but it's important for the well-being of our horses and the safety of our riders that we take size and weight into account.

What does the event include?

Cevalo's team building events include a variety of activities designed to foster a spirit of cooperation and improve communication:

• Introduction to the language of equus. Turns out, horses have a lot they can teach us about the subleties of non-verbal communication. Your group will watch and participate in a join-up demonstration and experience first-hand how much of an impact direct eye-contact and body stance can have on communication.
• Taking charge of the situation. Horses look to their handlers and riders for reassurance and guidance. Adopting a confident, assured manner and projecting a calm, relaxed attitude can have a truly remarkable impact on success. After working on some ground-excercises with the horses, your team will better understand how much this also applies to human interactions.
• Working as a team. Riding, by it's very nature, is a team endeavor where communication is essential to success. Riding in a group requires that you pay attention not just to what you and your horse are doing, but that you continually make adjustments for those around you. In your group's 45 minute riding lesson, you'll have some fun practicing a whole new set of communication and teamwork skills.

There's space in and around the barn to set up tables and chairs if you'd like to serve lunch. Catering can be arranged for an additional fee.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions are typically scheduled for 2.5-3 hours. The exact duration depends on the number of participants and the activities your group is interested in. Sessions longer than 3 hours may be subject to additional fees.

What clothing and equipment do we need?

Riders should wear comfortable long pants and sturdy, close-toed shoes or boots with a 1" heel. (If they already have a pair of Western boots, those are just fine, English riding boots are not required.) Cevalo provides loaner helmets for each rider, but riders are welcome to bring their own ASTM/SEI-certified equestrian helmet if they have one. (Bike helmets do not offer adequate protection and are not permitted.)

Any non-riders also need to wear sturdy, close-toed shoes or boots! Sandals, flip-flops, high-heels, etc. are not appropriate footwear for around the barn.
